Why does God or life put me to the test?
We've all experienced this sentiment ourselves or heard others utter this phrase. The answer to this profound question often lies in the realm of questioning through #AccurateThinking. So, if one is convinced that it is indeed GOD who is testing us, then the natural next query should be WHAT is the test about? Because the reason WHY he tests us is deeply rooted in the WHAT.
When I felt God was testing me (and I have a sneaking suspicion that he still is ;-) I shifted my focus from the WHY to the WHAT, and what I uncovered was a test of character traits. This applies to everyone. God isn't evaluating you on skills and knowledge—at least not directly. Here's what I discovered I was being tested on:
Ethics & Morals:
My grandfather instilled this in me. Yet, no matter how well one is taught, we often veer off course. Some stray far beyond redemption (which I believe is a fallacy. It only takes one decision to start your journey back) while others realize their error and backtrack. For me, the realization came early, and I commend myself for recognizing the drift and returning in time. Nevertheless, there was a price to pay for that detour.
Principles:
We initially adopt these from our families but eventually develop our own based on our sense of right and wrong. In a family of wrongdoers, there could be one who chooses honesty and integrity, just as in a family of honest individuals, there might be a subtle rogue. What sets us apart are our adapted principles and their impacts on us and others.
Persistence:
God favours those who persevere, akin to a fresh sprout emerging from an apparently lifeless tree. They say great opportunities slip away from those who merely exist because true success comes to those who persist. The main deferrence between existing and persisting, be the contant action we take to keep moving forward. Like in a football match, you keep moving ahead with the ball (opportunity) when ever it is passed to you.
Humility:
While it's vital to retain humility during success, it's equally crucial not to let others take advantage of it. I learned this lesson after a stumble. While some may criticize you for being a tad arrogant, remember that these are often individuals seeking free favors. As a personal rule, I offer my initial valuable advice for no charge. Many recipients reciprocate such advice. For those who do, I provide exceptional services beyond what they pay for. However, those who seek continuous free advice receive nothing in return. It's a delicate balance between valuing oneself and maintaining humility.
There are a few more I'd like to pen but the post will get too long for a weekday read. Maybe I'll share them when we get to interact in person over a ☕️ sometime. The bottomline is to work tirelessly to build a character the deserves success. MASSIVE Success. And such a character will never be ignored of great opportunities.
Do like and share if this makes any sense to you. Best wishes for your shaping and testing times !
